The Verdon Gorge is also called Gorges Du Verdon. It offers about the most beautiful view in Europe. It is up to 700 meters deep and 25 kilometers long. The Gorge is said to have been formed by the Verdon River. One of the unique features of the Verdon Gorge is its turquoise-green color. The most striking area of Verdon Gorge is the little towns in between Castellane and Moustiers-Sainte-Marie. This area is significant for being the location where the river cuts a captivating ravine through a limestone mass.
Another attractive feature of Verdon Gorge lies towards the end of the canyon where the Verdon River flows into the artificial lake. The lake has also been named after Verdon Gorge.
